Submission Guidelines

Clackamas Literary Review accepts submissions of poetry, prose, and possibility texts between June 1st and September 30th and publishes annually in the spring. Per reading period, please send only one (1) prose or possibility manuscript (4,000 words maximum), or up to three (3) poems. We do not accept unsolicited submissions that have been previously published in print or online. And we have zero interest in or tolerance for AI-generated work.

We accept electronic submissions through Submittable for a small reading fee ($3).

We also accept physical manuscripts the old fashioned way (with no reading fee!). These must be word processed. When mailing your manuscript to us, please include a cover letter containing your contact information (name, mailing address, email address, and phone number) as well as a one-paragraph bio. On the manuscript itself, please make sure your name and an email address is on every physical page. If your work is accepted, you will be contacted via email for an electronic file.

Our mailing address is:

Clackamas Literary Review
Clackamas Community College
19600 Molalla Avenue
Oregon City, Oregon 97045

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please promptly inform us if your submitted work is accepted elsewhere by withdrawing it via Submittable (electronic submissions only) or emailing us: clr@clackamas.edu. Mailed manuscripts with postmarks outside our reading period will not be opened. We try to respond to submissions within three months of the submission period.

Upon publication, the Clackamas Literary Review (CLR) acquires First Serial Rights for all unpublished works. Rights revert to the author following publication. Upon subsequent publication (republication or reprint), the CLR requests acknowledgement of first publication. The CLR reserves the right to reprint the journal issues in their entirety.
